“Kailas.”

“Ah, it’s nothing.”

Kailas barely held back tears. It wasn’t certain yet.

She would have to show the doctor to be sure.

She just felt an unfamiliar dragon’s aura from Leticia’s body.

Still, her heart swelled with emotion.

Leticia’s child.

The true master had a child who resembled that person.

‘Is it a delusion? No, it doesn’t seem like a delusion.’

The King was a descendant of dragons. The power of the dragon was passed down through the bloodline, so there was a high possibility that this power was transmitted to Leticia’s child.

The joy was short-lived, and Kailas felt heavy-hearted again. This was because Leticia’s condition was not entirely good.

‘In the current state where the curse has not been fully resolved, can Lady Leticia happily accept the child in her womb?’

Kailas was unsure. The Leticia that Kailas met was very bright. It was hard to believe she was someone facing death. Even so, she was worried.

‘She is resilient because, in the worst-case scenario, she believes she would be the only one to die.’

But now the situation had changed. There was a child in her womb.

‘Can she handle it?’

At first, she would be happy about the pregnancy.

But that joy would not last forever.

If they couldn’t find a way to break the curse despite knowing the child’s existence.

She would have to face dying day by day with the child. Could Leticia bear that fear?

“Kailas!”

Kailas looked up, startled. Ahwin was staring at Kailas with a cold face.

“Tell me immediately what you felt about Lady Leticia.”

A thick shadow fell on Ahwin’s face, backlit by the moonlight. In the darkness, his red eyes glowed menacingly.

“Kailas, there’s a rule I didn’t mention. No matter how much you become a comrade, there is something I can never tolerate. Threatening Lady Leticia’s safety!”

“……”

“If you ever put her in danger, even if you are a wing, I will not forgive you.”

“Ahwin.”

“This is not an empty threat. I will definitely cut you down. So tell me right now. What were you thinking? What did you feel in Lady Leticia’s body?”

Ahwin even drew his sword. The surrounding air froze coldly. The killing intent grew stronger. Kailas bit her lips hard.

Even under Ahwin’s threat, she couldn’t easily speak. She couldn’t divulge Leticia’s personal matters, especially regarding her child, as she pleased.

“Please hear it from Lady Leticia herself.”

“What?”

“I have no right. It’s not even certain yet. I will inform Lady Leticia of what I discovered soon, so please hear it then.”

“Kailas!”

“Do not rush me. I am not sure if my guess is correct, and even if it is, it is up to Lady Leticia to decide whether to disclose it or not! Am I wrong?”

Silence descended in the tense atmosphere. Their earnest desires clashed. Both Ahwin and Kailas wanted to protect Leticia. The only difference was in their methods.

“……I was too hasty. I’m sorry. I apologize.”

It was Ahwin who retreated first. The menacing aura that had threatened Kailas disappeared in an instant. Ahwin sheathed his sword and let out a light sigh.

“It seems that I have become sensitive because of the curse. There isn’t much time left. Considering the period when the symptoms of the curse begin to manifest in earnest, there are less than three months left.”

“……I fully understand your anxious heart.”

Kailas accepted Ahwin’s apology.

Distracted by the existence of the child, Kailas had not realized it, but if she hadn’t known, she too would have been greatly troubled by the pressure of the curse.

Ahwin laughed bitterly.

“The most frustrating thing is that there is nothing I can do immediately. I am not as proficient in ancient languages as His Highness. This is the first time I have felt so powerless. Sometimes I feel worse than trash.”

Ahwin’s laughter was filled with deep fatigue. It was his true feelings that he could not show in front of Leticia.

“Do not speak weakly. You just told me not to despair, so why are you collapsing so quickly? Besides, why do you say there is nothing to do? There is much to be done.”

Kailas deliberately spoke in a stern voice. From now on, the wing should never waver. There was now one more person to protect, making it all the more crucial.

“Since things have come to this, we must deal with that one first.”

“That one?”

“You know that for a new wing to be born, the existing wing must disappear.”

Kailas said.

“Lansen is nearby. Let us go and eliminate him right away.”

Until now, they had deceived Lansen to find out Josephina’s location. But now, there was no need for that anymore.

“Lady Leticia has requested a private audience with the Emperor, so Josephina will soon reveal herself.”

If that happens, Lansen will only be an obstacle to their tasks.

“He must be killed. As quickly as possible.”

Kailas’ eyes shone coldly as she spoke of Lansen’s end. Like a predator before its prey, there was no hesitation in her.

“Alright. Let’s do that. Wait a moment. I will report to Lady Leticia as soon as she wakes up.”

“Is it necessary to wake someone who is sleeping?”

“Then?”

“Let’s go and eliminate him right now. If we move together, we can finish it quickly.”

“That is true, but.”

“Moreover, is there any need for Lady Leticia to be bothered by trash? We can handle it ourselves. Where is the Wind Spirit? Call the other wings right away. Hurry.”

“Hmm, alright.”

Ahwin, bewildered by Kailas’ intensity, summoned the Wind Spirits. While waiting for the wings to arrive, Kailas glanced toward Leticia’s room. There was a reason why she insisted on moving with only the wings.

‘It’s not good for the baby’s prenatal care.’

On the way to kill trash. There was no need to report every rough detail. It was best to handle Lansen while Leticia was resting and then await the birth of the new wing.

* * *

Just a few hours ago, the house that had been perfectly fine was now a mess.

Lansen, who controlled space, tried to tear through space to escape. His effort was in vain as Banessa grabbed him by the scruff.

His body, which had been trying to enter the darkness, was pulled out and slammed to the ground.

“Ugh!”

“Heh. It’s always satisfying to crush trash.”

As Banessa recalled the time when he subdued Tenoua, he grinned widely. White flames of purification flickered around his fist. Realizing that he couldn’t contend with Banessa, Lansen switched targets.

“Kailas! You traitor! You bitch!”

“Wow, look at this. Hearing this trash talk makes my ears rot. It’s just like Tenua. Is trash talk a special trait of garbage?”

“Argh! Move!”

His once luxurious blonde hair was now soaked in red blood. His glossy eyes looked like those of a demon. Regardless, Banessa smiled brightly, pressing his foot down on Lansen’s back.

“New sister I’ve met today. What should we do? Shall we kill him? Didn’t you say this guy troubled our lady? Can I kill him too?”

Watching Banessa speak excitedly, Kailas asked in disbelief.

“Why do you keep calling me sister? Why am I your sister?”

“Just let it be, Kailas. There’s no use stopping him. He does whatever he wants.”

Noel chuckled.

“You’ll get used to it. He seems crazy, but if you watch him long enough, you’ll realize he’s actually quite sane.”

“What? Crazy? Sister, why are you being so harsh? Didn’t we get close just yesterday?”

“When you get close over drinks, you’re strangers again when you sober up.”

“Huh.”

Noel ignored the bewildered Banessa and drew her sword. Srrrng. A white rapier appeared with a clear sound.

“Lansen, it’s been a long time, hasn’t it? Have you been well?”

“Khk, kuh.”

Noel chuckled as she looked at Lansen, who glared at her as if he wanted to kill her.

“You look like you want to kill me with your eyes. You think we’ll actually kill you, right? So you’re acting recklessly?”

Lansen flinched for a moment but then glared fiercely again. Noel, who noticed Lansen’s true feelings, found it amusing. She smiled sweetly at him.

“Oh dear, how can you give up already? You have plenty of ways to live.”

“……What?”

“Our master is merciful, unlike the fake. If you sincerely beg for forgiveness and join our side, she will surely accept you.”

“She will accept me?”

“Of course.”

Noel’s whisper was as sweet as honey. Behind the honey was a poison that would devour the prey in one gulp, but Lansen didn’t notice.

“Then I can live?”

“If you sincerely apologize to her.”

Lansen swallowed. He looked up at Noel as if he couldn’t believe it.

‘I can live?’

Noel’s guess was correct. Lansen had given up because he thought it was over. If he could live, he would do anything.

“I-I’ll apologize! I’ll kneel! I’ll do anything!”

He wanted to live. He desperately wanted to live. If he could survive, he could not only kneel to Leticia, but also lick her shoes!

‘Let’s just think about surviving and getting out of here. Leticia, that lowly woman, can be killed later.’

Of course, he didn’t intend to truly submit to Leticia. After escaping the crisis, he planned to counterattack with the remaining wings.

‘I will repay this humiliation then.’

Not only Leticia but also the wings here would be killed. No, he would first tear Leticia apart in front of the wings.

‘I will kill that woman you cherish so much with my own hands. I will make her shed tears of blood over a pool of her own blood…!’

Lansen’s thoughts did not continue. He widened his eyes in shock. That action was his last.

“Ugh!”

“What? What’s going on?”

Noel looked up in surprise as Lansen collapsed. Banessa was pulling the sword out from Lansen’s chest.

“Hey! How could you kill him already?”

“Oh, sister, were you going to kill him too?”

“Of course I was!”

Noel shouted in anger.

“I was going to make him pay more before killing him!”

“I thought you were fooled by this guy.”

“Does that make sense!”

Noel grumbled in frustration. Banessa smirked.

“Heh, what’s done is done. Sister, you can kill the next piece of trash… Ouch!”

“You idiot!”

Noel, unable to contain her anger, kicked Banessa’s shin. Banessa grabbed his shin and jumped up and down.

“It hurts! I’m telling you, it hurts! Can’t you just use your words? Why do you even have a mouth?”

“Just consider it even!”

“Ugh, even? How can it be even!”

“Didn’t Ahwin heal your leg? Let’s call this kick payback for that!”

“You broke a perfectly good shinbone, and you’re acting all high and mighty!”

“Then ask Kailas to heal it!”

Listening to the bickering between the brazen Banessa and the even more brazen Noel, Kailas healed Banessa’s shin. After the treatment was done, Kailas stood up and extended a hand to the still-whining Banessa.

“Get up. The treatment is done.”

“Sister…”

Banessa dramatically sniffled as he took Kailas’s hand, glaring at Noel and complaining like a sparrow.

“Sister, I thought my bone had turned to powder. It hurt so much I almost died.”

Kailas spoke expressionlessly.

“If you want to protect your bones, keep your mouth shut. Every time you call me sister, I want to punch your solar plexus.”

Banessa and Ahwin flinched simultaneously. Kailas gave a small smile as she helped Banessa up.

“But I’ll let it slide for now. You have a job to do.”

“A job?”

Kailas pointed with her chin towards Lansen’s corpse and the walls of the house.

“Burn this house and the corpse, everything. Make it burn so brightly that it can be seen from the Imperial Palace.”
